Exekias, a great black figure artist, was potter and painter. The entire surface of the pot is decorated. The scene is of a wedding chariot drawn by four horses. In black figure the painter applies glaze and then incises details. When the pot is fired, the glazed areas turn black and the unglazed areas show a rich red color. The artist uses red glaze and white glaze for some details.
