Great Zimbabwe Tower

Scholars do not agree on the origin of the term "Zimbabwe." It is is either a contraction of the Bantu phrase dzimba dza mabwe, "houses of stone." or a derivation of dzimba woye, "venerated houses," referring to chiefs' houses or graves.
